How to make Crispy Sweet Potato Chips at home?


Ingredients:

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes
  • 1–2 tablespoons olive oil (or avocado oil)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • Optional:
  • Paprika, cinnamon, or chili powder for extra flavor
  • Black pepper to taste


Instructions:

🔪 1. Slice the Sweet Potatoes

Wash and peel (or scrub well and leave skin on) the sweet potatoes.

Use a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife to slice them very thinly—about 1/8 inch or thinner.

🧻 2. Dry the Slices

Pat the slices dry using paper towels to remove moisture. This step helps them crisp up better.

Toss the slices in a large bowl with oil, salt, and any optional seasonings until evenly coated.

Option 1: Baked Sweet Potato Chips

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Arrange chips in a single layer without overlapping.
  4. Bake for 20–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until edges curl and chips are golden.
  5. Watch closely near the end—they can go from crispy to burnt quickly.
  6. Let cool to crisp further before serving.

Option 2: Air Fryer Sweet Potato Chips

  1. Preheat air fryer to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Arrange chips in a single layer (may need to cook in batches).
  3. Air fry for 10–15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway.
  4. Let cool for maximum crunch.

Store cooled chips in an airtight container for up to 3 days. If they lose crispness, reheat in the oven or air fryer for a few minutes.
