Copyright Source: Tue, May 6, 2025

Due to a hamstring issue, Golden State Warriors star player Stephen Curry was compelled to depart Tuesday night’s playoff game against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first half. He has been declared out for the rest of the game.

Before his early departure, Curry scored 13 points in 13 minutes, hence enabling the Warriors to take a 44–31 lead going into halftime.

NBA great Shaquille O'Neal commented on how Curry's absence affected: "It's time for Jimmy to step up," he remarked. Buddy Hield has to play like he did in that Game 7 in Houston when he scored 33. Losing Steph is a big setback. You lose a floor general, someone who makes off-balance, crucial shots. To have a shot at winning, everyone will have to up their game.

Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals is set for Thursday night in Minnesota; Game 3 on Saturday will move the series to San Francisco.

The Warriors were trying to join Indiana, New York, and Denver as road teams that really won Game 1 of their individual conference semifinal series.

This season, Curry averages 24.5 points and 6.0 assists each game.
